Vars & Risoul 1850 (1605m - 2750m)

I want to point on this place because I was there whole last week and I have spent a wonderful time there. [Read above ;-)]

Vars a Risoul , the Cottic Alps, France (see map)

The red circle is a residence I was accomodated

The modern ski resort of Risoul (1850 m above sea-level) is together with the neighbouring Vars (1650 m above sea-level) a part of La Foret Blanche (the White Forest) ski region. Thanks to its high elevation top, perfectly situated slopes or accomodation possibilities, it is justly one of the most popular ski resorts in the French Alps.

It can boast about one of the largest snowboard parks - Surfland - a 12 km long area of a descent of 500 m. There is a total number of 115 runs out of which the most interesting are: two (officially classified) slalom runs, La Coni (very difficult black run with an incline up to 43%) and of course a run for the flying kilometre with the record of 244 km/hour (for extra fee available for public).

Although Risoul is not very typical family-orientated resort, you can find lots of easy runs suitable for children in its close proximity. 26 km of cross-country tracks or aprés ski offer of 30 km of suggested hiking or snowshoe walking trails are worth mentioning as well.
